Futures Bold & Curious
Studying at NCAD is different. It is about making a better world. It is about becoming a creative force and learning to change the world through bold and curious thinking, making and doing. NCAD offers the richest and most diverse education in art and design in Ireland. “We have a shared belief in the transformative potential of an NCAD education to equip our graduates with the bold curiosity and the new thinking which society critically needs. We are ambitious to find new ways to work with each other and the wider community, to continuously redefine and expand the boundaries of creative practice, to make a difference and, as our mission states, to change the world.” Futures, Bold & Curious, NCAD Strategic Plan 2019-2024
Walking under the blue arch on Thomas Street and into NCAD for the first time is an unforgettable experience. This distinctive and diverse campus of studios, workshops, and learning and social spaces has a special energy all its own. As one of Ireland’s most important creative and cultural institutions, our vision for our students is that of a studio-based, learning-by-doing experience that responds to both the digital and material world.
We live in an era of fast and sometimes troubling change, and as a society we face many challenges. The wider creative community has a vital role to play in finding new and relevant ways to bring us out of this difficult time. Creativity thrives with change, and an NCAD education stimulates the imagination, creativity and critical thinking necessary to address today’s challenges.
Students are at the heart of everything we do at NCAD; a creative force who learn using imagination and action, through bold and curious thinking, and through making and doing. Graduates include artists and designers who have changed the face of their fields. Their work meets the highest levels of achievement; from major galleries and exhibitions to innovative health care and essential services, and from the catwalk to the high street. With close connections to our community, we also actively forge partnerships across Irish education, industry, culture and social enterprise as well as internationally.
NCAD is a Recognised College of University College Dublin. Just as NCAD is a national institution like no other, an NCAD art and design education is like no other. With our new Strategic Plan ‘Futures Bold & Curious’ in place and a revitalised vision for our future, NCAD is on an exciting new journey. Whether you are considering your options for studying at third level for the first time, or looking for the right college in which to continue your studies at masters or doctoral level, thank you for considering an NCAD future.
